BOOTS ON THE GROUND!

January 11, 2012 - 3:35 pm

OCEANSIDE--At a recent event with campaign volunteers, Rocky Chavez announced that he has started walking precincts of the new California Assembly District #76 – Carlsbad, Encinitas, Oceanside, Vista and Camp Pendleton.  This last weekend Rocky walked an entire precinct in Vista and met residents interested in becoming involved with his campaign.

Rocky ChavezAdditional good news was that the campaign (which kicked off on September 14 on the factory floor of a North County sign manufacturer) has brought in $105,382 in just over 105 days!  There are upcoming fundraisers planned already with the first big one this year to be held at The Mellano Family Farm, hosted by Mike Mellano Sr. and Harry Singh on January 25th.

Campaign volunteers were also pleased to hear the results of an official poll from last June that asked ‘Likely Voters for the 2012 Primary’ in Oceanside, how they would vote if the election were today.  Rocky received triple the votes compared to one candidate and over quadruple the votes compared to the other of the three Republicans currently in the race for the '76'.

Oceanside Councilman Jerry Kern states “Rocky’s name recognition ranks high in North County as a result of his intense public service. Rocky has widespread grassroots support and now he’s starting to walk precincts and talk to individual residents in this new district – he’s a good example of a leader who listens to the voters!”

Rocky Chavez served as a Marine for over twenty-eight years in all four divisions around the world, served as a city council member in Oceanside, Acting Secretary of the California Department of Veterans Affairs and has been involved with numerous community organizations in the district.  His four main platform issues include jobs and the economy, education, Veterans and government efficiency with more detailed information and background on his website.

There is another gathering planned for interested volunteers on Saturday, January 21 at 2:00pm.
