FORMER U.S. TREASURER ENDORSES ROCKY CHAVEZ

HUNTINGTON PARK, CA—Former United States Treasurer Rosario Marin today endorsed Rocky Chavez for California Assembly, District 76.

Former U.S. Treasurer Rosario Marin“Rocky Chavez is a leader who will put California jobs first,” said former U.S. Treasurer Rosario Marin. “Rocky knows how to hold government accountable – and how to fight for small businesses and taxpayers.”

Marin served as U.S. Treasurer under President George W. Bush and was the highest ranking Latina in his administration. The U.S. Treasurer oversees the U.S. Mint and the Bureau of Engraving and Printing – the agencies that provide all U.S. currency.

Born of humble beginnings in Mexico City, Marin later became a U.S. citizen and went on to pursue a career in government. Marin held positions in the administrations of two California Republican governors, and also served as mayor of Huntington Park.

“Rosario Marin is role model for those who know that hard work creates results,” said Chavez. “I’m proud to have her support.”

Marin is a member of the board of directors for the Hispanic 100, a nonprofit organization established to promote leadership within the Hispanic community and to advance free-enterprise principals through advocacy and education.

Chavez is seeking to represent the 76th California Assembly District, which includes the cities of Oceanside, Vista, Carlsbad and Encinitas. The Chavez campaign will focus on jobs and the economy, education, veterans, and government efficiency. Chavez served as a Marine for more than twenty-eight years, retiring as a colonel. He then went on to serve nearly a decade on the Oceanside City Council before leading the Department of Veterans Affairs.
