CARLSBADRamona Finnila, a three term Carlsbad City Council member (from 1992-2004) and former Chair for San Diego Assoc. of Governments (SANDAG), has endorsed Rocky Chavez in his bid for California Assembly District 76 that includes Carlsbad, Camp Pendleton, Encinitas, Oceanside and Vista.

Ramona Finnila“As a former Carlsbad City Council member, I’m confident that Rocky Chavez will represent the interests of the Carlsbad community and this region in the assembly,” said Finnila. “Rocky is no stranger to tough California issues. He is the best qualified and most experienced candidate for this race.”

She has chaired the Palomar Airport Board, served as Vice Chair of the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority, and is currently serving on the Tri City Hospital Foundation Board.

“Ramona Finnila is a dedicated public servant, and I’m proud to have her support,” Chavez said. “Carlsbad is a vital part of District 76, and I look forward to working with community leaders as we make positive changes in Sacramento.”

Chavez is seeking to represent the 76th California Assembly District that includes not only the cities of Oceanside, Vista, Carlsbad and Encinitas but Camp Pendleton also. The Chavez campaign is focusing on jobs and the economy, education, veterans, and government efficiency. Chavez served as a Marine for more than twenty-eight years, retiring as a colonel. He then went on to serve nearly a decade on the Oceanside City Council before leading the California Department of Veterans Affairs.
