Rocky On The Issues - Protecting The Taxpayers
Californians endure an extraordinarily high tax burden. We pay state income taxes, sales taxes, property taxes, state gasoline taxes etc. When all of these taxes are added together with our federal income taxes, the total rate is near 50% of many people’s incomes.
I believe that the taxes we pay are too high. I will oppose any attempt to increase your taxes. This is why I signed the Americans for Tax Reform pledge which states that I will never vote for a tax increase.
On the contrary, I will work to reduce your tax burden by introducing legislation that is aimed at reducing state income taxes across the board. I will also work to protect Proposition 13 from liberal politicians who seek to increase the property taxes that you pay on your home or business.
Rocky On The Issues - Economic Development
California is a high cost/high benefit state in which to conduct business. I believe that we can help to reduce costs for businesses by streamlining regulations and reducing the tax burden that business owners endure. I also believe that every new regulation passed should be subject to a 5 year “sunset” clause. This would allow for the regulation to be reviewed and rescinded if it proves to be too costly or of dubious public benefit.
The Pacific Rim is a major trading partner with California. I propose targeted investments in higher education and transportation infrastructure. This will make California even more competitive in this market.
